Chaos is a figurative sculpture by Zura that brings together raw energy, movement and classical references through a distinctly contemporary language. The female figure, with her dramatic wings extending behind her, evokes the timeless image of a winged goddess or warrior, recalling the visual presence of the ancient Greek Nike of Samothrace while remaining unmistakably Zura’s own interpretation.
The sweeping wings give the figure a sense of motion, as if caught in a powerful current of wind. Her pose and form convey both femininity and strength, creating a presence that feels simultaneously ancient and contemporary.
True to Zura’s practice of transforming unconventional materials into expressive sculpture, Chaos is constructed using recycled cardboard alongside resin and acrylic. The fragile, everyday material is transformed into a monumental figure, creating a dialogue between vulnerability and endurance, impermanence and permanence.
With its raw, primitive character and unmistakable sculptural language, Chaos demonstrates Zura’s ability to reinterpret the human form through movement, material and imagination. The work was presented as part of Anatomy of Sculpture, continuing the artist’s exploration of the body, form, and the possibilities of sculptural expression.
